Job Description

The Automation Technician II is a professional level position within the technical delivery structure of ESCO Automation.  This position is best described as a contributing technical resource for embedded external customer production and project delivery.  Work executed will be with a multi-discipline team.  This position requires acquisition and knowledge of automation, electrical, and mechanical skills and technologies. 

The Automation Technician II will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Assist clients with the daily operations and maintenance of custom automation solutions in a production environment.
  • Perform production and project deliverables under general supervision and while adhering to scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
  • Program, configure, test, and commission PLC and HMI based control systems as assigned while under the general direction of others.
  • Verify, test, and calibrate electromechanical subsystems including servo drive settings and configuration.
  • Assist in the completion of documentation, continuous improvement, failure analysis, and installation of automated systems.
  • Monitor personal quality measures are being met.
  • Utilize, support, and enhance ESCO’s standards and best practices.
  • Understand and follow all safety, conduct, and policy requirements established by ESCO and clients.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned or deemed necessary by management.

To be considered, candidates should have:

  • Completion of an Associate’s degree program in a related discipline from an accredited college, technical school, or university and two years or more of related work or industry experience; or
    • A combination of equivalent education and or experience will be considered with solid evidence of success.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with two or more of the following: automation, instrumentation, pneumatic systems, mechanical systems, or robotics.
  • Demonstrated understanding of electrical principles and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated to be highly proficient with computer technologies including but not limited to, Windows Operating Systems, and the use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.


  • Demonstrated proficiency with the use of AutoCAD Electrical or Solidworks, including the ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Demonstrated experience with Parker Automation, SMC, Wago, or equivalent automation equipment.
