An infrared survey of the energized electrical system is typically conducted on an annual basis as part of an EPM program. The survey allows for inspection of a large amount of equipment in a short time and locates faulty items not generally found during a physical inspection.
The infrared survey locates problems before they lead to an unscheduled outage, equipment damage or a fire.
Procedure: Technician uses our equipment to view target area on a gray scale set up with a 90-degree Fahrenheit maximum temperature setting for the gray scale. Any temperature measure above ninety-degrees will show up on the equipment in red. This allows us to scan an electrical panel and to zero in on only areas that were in red.
