Testing/Maintenance - Breaker Testing Maintenance

Back to Maintenance Services

For medium and high voltage breakers, hi-pot testing, resistance testing and Doble testing for dielectric strength are performed. Associated relays are tested using secondary injection and Doble 3-phase testing. Circuit breaker time/travel testing and " dry run " type testing of the complete unit's controls and interlocks are performed using secondary injection for the associated relays.

For low voltage breakers, megger testing, resistance testing and Doble testing are performed. Associated relays are tested using primary injection or secondary injection testing. Circuit testing of the complete unit's controls and interlocks are performed. If applicable, breakers are removed from their cells and the arc chutes are removed for inspection and cleaning. Breakers and breaker cells are cleaned of all dirt and old lubricant. Visual inspections are performed and the associated mechanisms of the breakers are operated upon removal from the cells and before placing the breakers in service to insure proper operation. Breakers are lubricated with long life lubricants and adjusted, as needed, in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
